NGO / NPO / TRUST / WELFARE / SOCIETY / REGISTRATION IN PAKISTAN

The Government of Pakistan often fails to provide basic amenities to its citizens since it is primarily a third-world country. In developed countries, healthcare, education, and charity are considered the exclusive responsibilities of governments. Individuals are forced to take matters into their own hands because of budgetary constraints and limited resources allocated to these development areas of Pakistan’s economy. The non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and not-for-profit organizations (NPOs) formed by such individuals are also known as non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

NGO REGISTRATION

Non-governmental organizations and welfare trusts in Pakistan work for the welfare of the poor and needy. The main responsibility of our lawyers is to register and file statutory annual reports for non-profit organizations. Most NGOs in Pakistan are registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, but this authority has been transferred to the Provincial Government, which has passed individual provincial laws. Non-Profit sectors in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi are served by us with A-Z services.

In contrast to for-profit organizations, NGOs are governed by different legal frameworks. In addition, the country has specific legislation governing the registration of NGOs and their operational mandate.

  1. Act of 1860 for Registration of Societies
  2. The Ordinance, 1961, on Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration & Control)
  3. Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984
  4. The Trust Act, 1882 this act sets out the private trust with a wide range of purposes.

In order to get your NGO registered, we at TAXOCRATE Pakistan will suggest relevant acts and ordinances after assessing your NGOs objectives and plans. Pakistan is also the location of our operations and activities.

Departments Involved

As part of the operation of the federal system, the government of Pakistan makes policies. In order for NGOs to be able to function, the state decides how much power it should give them. In addition, to assist them in playing a significant role in the country.

According to the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961, Pakistan has two departments responsible for administering and monitoring NGO registration. Departments include the following:

  • The Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education
  • The Provincial Social Welfare Department – Sindh Government

The Industry Department of Karachi, Islamabad, and Pakistan register NGOs under the Societies Registration Act 1860.

A license for NGO registration in Karachi is issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The license is granted, however, subject to certain conditions. Therefore, non-profit companies must apply for a license with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). Prior to granting a license, the SECP requires certain conditions to be met.
